The first son to a family of servants, Rex has known nothing but servitude for most of his life. When he was old enough, he began working as an assistant groundskeeper, eventually taking up positions in cooking, cleaning, maintaining the stables, and ultimately, assistant to the head butler.
However, Rex wanted more from his life than that of a mere servant, or so he thought. When he was old enough, he retired from his job with the Poulain family (where he had been raised, and where his family still worked at the time) to join the Dragon Army. He spent many years there, and had a very successful career as a soldier.
When his tenure within the Army was up, he left to look for work. He did not enjoy combat nearly enough to go into true mercenary work, but he knew he was good at it, and he also had a long history as a servant. So, he went into the private bodyguard field, where he remains to this day.
Rex currently works for the L’Mont family in the heart of the Dragon Empire. The work is tedious and, often, rather dull, but the company is good, and he very much likes the L’Mont’s oldest daughter, Danielle, to whom he has been assigned.
He has lately been caught up in the philosophy of not only his job, but his place in the world, causing him to perhaps long for some greater purpose, some higher calling. Although, the last few weeks with the L’Monts have proven to be more than ordinary, all things considered.
